On Boxing Day with us, miHoYo unveils the future of the content of its title released a little over a year ago, Genshin Impact. Indeed, with an update that will arrive around January 5, we had to show players what to expect. As with each new notable update, it was during a dedicated live that communication took place and this allows us to have a fairly broad view of all the content offered.
Characters
Update 2.4 arrives with two new characters. Finally, new, not really since they have already had official presentations from the developer on Twitter in particular.
- Yun jin : 4 Geo stars armed with a spear
- Shenhe : 5 stars Cryo armed with a spear
Shenhe
Shenhe’s elemental skill not only inflicts Cryo damage, but also buffers nearby allies with an effect that increases the damage they do based on Shenhe’s current attack. This effect activates on all types of attacks (normal, charged, diving, skills, rampages).
When she activates her elemental skill “Spring Spirit Summoning”, her talent “Spirit Communion Seal” will give a different effect depending on how the skill is activated. Either a skill damage buff and rampages from nearby allies, or a damage buff from normal, diving, and charged attacks.
Its burst allows it to inflict Cryo damage over time thanks to a divine talisman that is summoned. The burst also allows to lower the Cryo and physical resistances of the enemies located in the field of action of the talisman. His second talent allows him to offer a Cryo damage boost to allies in the area of action created by the burst.
Shenhe is therefore a Cryo attribute support character who will be useful to help your Cryo DPS but also your Physical DPS. On top of that, she is useful for Liyue’s expeditions thanks to her latest talent.
Yun jin
Yun Jin is a character that will come in handy in teams based on normal attacks.
His elemental skill is an attack that charges by holding the dedicated key. While charging, Yun Jin uses a posture before releasing the accumulated energy in a spinning blow with his spear. There are two charge levels, level 1 and level 2. The longer you charge, the higher the charge level will be.
She also creates a shield for herself if you do a charged attack via her elemental skill. Her first passive allows her to launch an attack with a charge level of 2 directly if she gets hit while using her elemental skill. Be careful though because it is only during the launch so the timing is precise.
Its burst allows you to apply a buff to nearby allies that allows you to do additional damage proportional to Yun Jin’s defense when you deal damage from normal attacks. In addition, the bonus offered through the buff increases thanks to his second talent. The latter increase the damage bonus depending on the number of elements in the team.

In addition to these two, Xiao, Zhongli and Ganyu will make a comeback in reruns banners as was the case with Eula and Albedo in version 2.3.

The events
Update 2.4 will feature the Lantern Festival. The latter will be back. You will have various activities to do that can offer you many rewards. For example, you will have the possibility of obtaining a 4 * character from Liyue as for the first edition except that this time, Yun Jin will be there.
In addition, two new skins will be obtainable. Just like those of Barbara and Jean, it will be necessary to either make the event, or to buy them.
- Ningguang Skin : obtaining free during the event.
- Keshin skin : purchasable in the store.
Thereafter, we can expect to see the Ningguang skin paying off as is the case now for Barbara’s.
Stones of Fatality will also be offered via a login bonus.
The activities of the festival were entitled to their presentation through a short video that you can find below. In particular, you will find a boat activity there.
We will also find other events such as the return of hide and seek or two new events, one of which will be related to potions and the other to tanukis.
The one called “A Study in Potions” will ask you to participate in challenges where you will have to beat enemies. The preparation of a challenge is done by choosing characters to use but also potions with various effects. You should know that a character used in a previous floor is set aside for the next.
The second event consists of taking pictures of tanukis at specific locations.

Quests
Among the quests that will arrive in version 2.4, we will have a new quest for Archons and two new escapades featuring Ningguang and Yun Jin.
New weapon
With the arrival of Shenhe, a new 5-Star Rarity Spear will be available in Wishes.
New zone: Enkanomiya
A new area can be explored. This is Enkanomiya, an area in which you will find new monsters but also a new mechanic allowing you to change between day and night manually. For that, it will be necessary to go to the tower of Byakuyakoku – Dainichi Mikoshi. This mechanic will influence in particular the puzzles in the area. In addition, it will be possible to discover the history of this ancient region from various points of view.
Now let’s talk about the ancient creatures living there. We find for example the Bathysmal Vishap. There are two types, a classic and a duo (Electro / Cryo) forming a boss. The latter can launch combined attacks. You will also find two new monsters of the abyss (Abyss Herald and Abyss Lectors). Abyss Lectors use Pyro attacks.

The optimizations made in 2.4
We also had some information on the optimizations made in 2.4. We will therefore find optimizations for the interfaces of spiral depths, crafting, forging and the map. We also have an optimization on the customization of the shortcut wheel.
The Serenithéière has new decorations as it was specified during the dev note of version 2.4.
