the iPad Mini will switch to Oled, but not before 2026

After the iPad Pro, it’s the turn of the iPad Air, but also the iPad Mini, to switch to Oled. A smooth transition that will not happen for at least two years.

The iPad finally switched to Oled this year: the iPad Pro is the manufacturer’s first tablet to benefit from this technology, while the MacBooks should also follow by 2025.

But if there is one big thing missing from Apple’s announcements, it’s the Apple Mini. If a new version of the small format tablet is not expected before the end of 2024 at the earliest, its transition to Oled is also in the firm’s plans.

An Oled iPad Mini for 2026?

According to sources from the ZDNET Korea site (via MacRumors), Samsung is developing 8-inch Oled screens for a future iPad Mini. Mass production would be planned for the second half of 2025 for availability in 2026.

These rumors were corroborated by the Korean site ET News which confirms according to its own sources that the iPad Mini, as well as the iPad Air, will both make the transition to Oled in 2026. The screen of the Mini model would also go from a diagonal of 8.3 inches to 8.7 inches for the occasion. To note that

It now remains to be seen whether it will be the long-awaited iPad Mini 7 or a future iPad Mini 8. According to information from Mark Gurman, a new model with a more powerful chip would be planned by the end of the year 2024, so this would fit with Apple’s schedule of releasing an iPad Mini every two years.
