An OLED and slightly larger screen, an M3 chip based on TSMC’s 3 nm engraving process… New iPad Pros are expected in 2024.
Apple launched its latest 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro in October 2022, equipped with the famous M2 chip. The Cupertino company is already working on their successors, and we have first information about them to put in our mouths.
Bigger screens in 2024
According to information from analyst Ross Young, who specializes in the screen industry, relayed by MacRumors, Apple would aim to release its new generation of iPad Pro in the first quarter of 2024. We know that the Apple brand has a habit of organizing a keynote in March to unveil new products. The event therefore seems to be the perfect place to present new iPad Pros.
Another interesting data shared by the analyst is the expected size of the screens of these iPad Pros: 11.1 and 13 inches, or 0.1 inches more for each model compared to the iPad Pros currently on the market. It is likely that the general size of the tablets will remain the same, or almost, and that Apple will trim the edges to increase the display area.
The iPad Pro would switch to OLED
Ross Young also predicts that the display of both iPad Pro models will rely on OLED technology, long overdue for Apple’s tablets, but not introduced as hoped with the latest generation. Recently, the publications The Electric and DigiTimes already claimed that Apple would finally switch to OLED for its next iPad Pro, which would also carry an M3 chip engraved in 3 nm.
Finally, the analyst had suggested the release of a large 14.1-inch iPad Pro in 2023 to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and its 14.6-inch panel. Apple would have finally abandoned this idea, but the American group would still think about the possibility of releasing larger iPads in the future.
