After analyzing in detail the screen of the iPhone 14 Pro, which turned out to be the best on a smartphone to date, the experts at DXOMARK finally tackled the photo part. The previous year’s iPhone 13 Pro had already provided very strong performance in the field, as it was already ranked third in the rankings. Without surprise, the new model managed to do much better.

As a reminderthe iPhone 14 Pro has almost completely revised the photo part compared to the previous model. This year we find a new main sensor of 48 MP quite large, since it measures 1/1.3 inch. This allows it to offer individual pixels of 1.22 microns, perfect for harvesting a lot of light at night. Apple has also modified the 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and opted for a larger sensor with individual 1.4-micron pixels. The iPhone 14 Pro was therefore already well on its way to doing better than its predecessor with all its new features.

iPhone 14 Pro almost dominates the ranking on DXOMARK

DXOMARK gave the overall score of 146 points to the iPhone 14 Pro, which puts it in second place, just after the Honor Magic4 Ultimate and its 147 points. In photo, the iPhone 14 Pro obtains 143 points, which is not enough to steal the first place from its competitors on Android. However, Apple’s device peaks at 149 points in videomuch better than any smartphone.

The iPhone 14 Pro also takes first place in the Preview section, which notes the difference between what you see on screen and the final shot. The camera also shines in portrait mode with 80 points, the best score to date. Finally, in zoom, the absence of a periscope does not allow the iPhone 14 Pro to shineand he must therefore settle for 139 points.

Among the positive points in the photo, DXOMARK notes that the smartphone offers very good performance in all light conditions. In video, the smartphone offers excellent face tracking capabilities. However, the site also notes a significant loss of detail when taking photos from long distances, or even graininess when shooting indoors.
