The iPhone 14, however successful they may be, do not make any design changes if we compare them to the iPhone 13 and 12. We therefore expect Apple, which seems to have reached the end of a cycle, to opt for a renewed design next year, with its series that is already called iPhone 15.
The analyst Ming Chi Kuo, often well-informed when it comes to Cupertino’s little secrets, believes for his part that he knows that the iPhone 15, or at least the two most high-end models of them – the supposed iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max — would have no physical buttons, thereby adopting an ever more refined aesthetic. Understand that instead of the traditional keys, Apple would place two “virtual” buttons dedicated to adjusting the volume and starting smartphones, which would rely on the Taptic Engine. Those who have ever used an iPhone 7, iPhone 8 or iPhone SE know the technology: used on their Home button, it uses haptic feedback, i.e. a vibrator, to simulate the click of a traditional mechanical button. Kuo notes that the classic iPhone 15s would keep their buttons for the part, continuing on from the iPhone 14s, and predicts that other high-end smartphone manufacturers will also try their hand at “fake” buttons.
If this change of course remains to be confirmed, another characteristic is now assured or almost, a year before the formalization of the new range. While the European Commission has validated the obligation for smartphone manufacturers to equip them with a USB-C charging port, Apple has confirmed to wall street journal its intention to comply with European legislation. Sector specialists, such as Mark Gurman (Bloomberg), all point to its integration from the next generation of smartphones, which would therefore mean that the iPhone 14 would be the last of the brand to be equipped with a Lightning socket.
