Mark Gurman, the famous Bloomberg journalist, confirmed the rumor that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would have a larger screen. In his new newsletter “Power On”, the latter therefore corroborated the information of Ross Young, who had already announced the news a few weeks ago now.

According to Gurman, the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be increased by ” a few tenths of an inch diagonally which will make them the largest screens ever seen on an iPhone. The move is seen as a strategic step by Apple to improve the competitiveness of its high-end smartphones, especially against rival Samsung. Larger screens will not only improve the user experience, but will also create additional internal space for the integration of larger componentsespecially in the photo section.

The iPhone 16 Pro should benefit from better cameras

Ross Young had previously hinted that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max would come with a bigger screen. He had indicated that the iPhone 16 Pro is said to have a screen of almost 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max is said to have a screen of around 6.9 inches. If we can think that the dimensions will be radically different, we rather expect that they will not change drastically compared to the current generation. Above all, Apple should reduce the size of the borders of its screens, which will allow it toincrease the diagonal slightly while maintaining a fairly similar chassis.

By increasing the screen size of its flagship devices, Apple aims to bridge the gap with Samsung’s high-end offeringssuch as the Galaxy S23 Ultra with its 6.8-inch screen and the Galaxy S23 Plus with a 6.6-inch screen.

The increased size of the devices will not only match the specs of Samsung’s flagship phones, but will also give Apple a bit more space inside its smartphones to accommodate more capable cameras and larger batteries, but we do not yet know exactly what Apple has in store for us on this side. Regarding the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, the latter should keep the same screens as the current generation, that is to say 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.
