The Jeep Avenger is fully shown at the Paris Motor Show

After unveiling its ambitious electrification plan for the next few years, which includes the Jeep Avenger, the American brand (Stellantis) invites the general public to discover it at the Paris Motor Show.

Designed and designed in Italy, the Avenger is a compact SUV that will compete with vehicles from the Stellantis range, such as the Peugeot e-2008 and the Opel Mokka-e, but also the Smart #1 or the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro. With a length of just under 4.1 m, it will be the youngest member of the Jeep family, behind the Renegade and the Compass.

The Avenger is based on an evolution of the Stellantis Group’s e-CMP platform, but Jeep’s input has made it possible to shorten the front and rear overhangs, improving its off-road potential. The ground clearance is 20 cm. The manufacturer is also planning a four-wheel drive transmission, but we don’t know for the moment if it will be based on a differential linking the two axles or on an all-wheel drive based on two motors, one on each axle, without mechanical linkage. between the two.

As expected, the overall silhouette is massive, but the design team, who were tasked with “hold 100% of the brand’s DNA in 4 m”, managed to give a singularity to his car without it resembling other models based on the CMP platform. In this regard, we note a closed, flush grille with seven slots, body-built wheel arches and an X-shaped light signature at the rear.

Without benefiting for the moment from details on the mechanical components, we can anticipate a sharing of the powertrain equipping these vehicles with a 50 kWh battery. The modified chemistry would, however, save about fifty kilometers to turn around 400 km in mixed – we will deepen these points during a test as soon as possible. The charging time should be contained around 30 min to go from 20 to 80% via the 100 kW DC charge. At the moment, the front-wheel-drive version relies on a single engine producing 154 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

Inside, the design of the cabin is intended to be minimalist with a single horizontal strip which groups together all the air vents, ambient lighting and a central 10.25-inch Uconnect touch screen, itself associated to a fully digital handset available in two variants (7 and 10.25 inches). In addition, the system offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It also allows you to create your own interface (up to 12 widgets per page, up to six pages). Navigation is integrated by TomTom with voice recognition and remote updates (Over the Air).
