the king expresses his thanks for the support received

Touched by the numerous messages of support received after the announcement of his cancer, the British King Charles III wanted to offer his thanks on Saturday February 10. “I would like to express my most sincere thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received over the past few days”wrote the 75-year-old sovereign in a press release published on the website and the British royal family’s X account.

“As anyone affected by cancer knows, kind thoughts like these provide the greatest comfort and encouragement”he adds. “It’s also heartening to hear how sharing my diagnosis has helped raise awareness and shine a light on the work of all of these organizations that support cancer patients and their families across the UK and the rest of the world. »

Absent from public life

“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as I experience it personally”, adds the message. Less than eighteen months after acceding to the throne, the sovereign began treatment on Monday for a form of cancer which was not specified.

The disease was detected during a recent operation for benign prostatic hypertrophy but it is not prostate cancer. Although he will continue some of his administrative functions, Charles III will be absent from public life for an indefinite period.
