The King of Fighters XV on Switch? The developer’s response

Even imperfect, especially on the side frame rate, the port of Samurai Shodown on Switch left the door ajar for the return of the Unreal Engine on the Nintendo machine. Unfortunately, as producer Yasuyuki Oda told us, we will obviously have to cross our fingers very hard: “Like the speed of combat in KOF XV, the game requires the processing of a large amount of information. Unfortunately, from that perspective, things don’t look good for the Switch’s engine/processor trade-off, and as such we’re not convinced the game would offer an equivalent experience to other platforms. At this time, we are not considering a port to Switch.Note the use of “for now”.

As for the noticeable absence of Kim Kaphwan, the taekwondo champion present in almost every game since Fatal Fury 2, patience is required here again: “For the launch, we focused on the story and all the characters that revolve around it. There’s a noticeable absence with Kim’s disappearance, but other characters were also in high demand. This is something we will keep in mind for the future.“, declares Oda, who concedes a small preference for Shun’ei and Meitenkun, the two heroes of this new saga. In the meantime, the first two DLC packs of the roadmap are known, while waiting who knows to find new other known faces in the coming months.
