MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin on Thursday denied Forbes Russia reports that 700,000 Russians had fled the country to escape the “partial mobilization” decreed by Vladimir Putin on September 21 in the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. .

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said he did not have exact figures and that information should not be taken into consideration.

“I don’t think these numbers should be taken seriously,” he told a press conference with Russian media.

“I don’t have exact figures, but of course they are far from what was announced,” he added.

Tens of thousands of Russians, mostly men of fighting age, are believed to have fled to Kazakhstan, Georgia and Mongolia which share a common border with Russia.
