  • The L Word: Generation Q ends after Season 3.
  • However, the series of the US broadcaster Showtime is to be continued in a spin-off.
  • This time the action takes place in New York.

The L Word: Generation Q is canceled. The spin-off of the successful series “The L Word – When Women Love Women”, which ran on the US broadcaster Showtime from 2004 to 2009, ends after three seasons.

But that’s not the end of The L Word franchise. A new offshoot of the series is set to take place in New York in the future. However, further plans for the series, tentatively titled The L Word: New York, have not yet been announced.

Original stars Jennifer Beals and Kate Moennig returned to their roles as Bette Porter-Kennard and Shane McCutcheon for the Generation Q reboot. The series let the friends move on with their lives as members of the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles.

“The L Word: Generation Q” is based on an idea by series creator Ilene Chaiken, just like “The L Word – When Women Love Women”. Marja-Lewis Ryan served as showrunner on the reboot,

For the reboot in New York, Chaiken will probably return as idea generator and executive producer. She is also very likely to join the Showtime productions of Billions and Dexter: Origins.

A release date for The L Word: New York has not yet been announced.
