“Westworld” and “The Batman” star Jeffrey Wright will be in front of the camera for season two of “The Last of Us”, it has now been announced.

The post-apocalyptic HBO series “The Last of Us” has a new star. Jeffrey Wright (58), who is particularly known from the sci-fi show “Westworld” and was recently nominated for an Oscar for “Best Actor”, is joining the game adaptation for the upcoming second season. This is reported by the US industry portal “Deadline”. What is special about the casting: Wright plays a character to whom he already lent his voice in the original game “The Last of Us Part II” from 2020.

The cast of “The Last of Us” continues to grow

In the second season of “The Last of Us”, Wright plays the character Isaac, the leader of the paramilitary Washington Liberation Front, abbreviated to WLF. He thus completes the cast of the series, which for season two had already grown to include Kaitlyn Dever (27, plays villain Abby), Danny Ramirez (31, Manny), Ariela Barer (25, Mel), Tati Gabrielle (28, Nora) and Spencer Lord (Owen). Isabela Merced (22) is also new to the series and plays the character Dina, while Young Mazino (32) is Jesse. Catherine O’Hara (70) takes on an as yet unknown role.

The premiere season of the computer game adaptation “The Last of Us” proved to be a great success for the US premium cable channel HBO at the beginning of last year. Many fans of the original games loved the post-apocalyptic series, as did newcomers. The former “Game of Thrones” stars Pedro Pascal (49) and Bella Ramsey (20) play the main characters Joel and Ellie. Season two is expected on HBO in the course of next year.
