Amazon Prime Video has announced a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery to stream the entire HBO catalog. If “The Last of Us” will be available at no additional cost for Amazon Prime subscribers, the other series will require the subscription to a dedicated pass.
While the HBO series disappeared from the OCS catalog on January 1, there was still no news so far from the catalog of the American cable channel. It must be said that among the series offered by HBO, many have acquired cult status. We think in particular of TheWire, Game Of Thrones, oz, The Sopranos, Chernobyl Where Sex & The City.
Above all, the long-awaited series of this winter, The Last of Us, adapted from the video game franchise, will premiere on HBO starting January 15. It was thus unknown whether it would be broadcast simultaneously in France on D+1 as was the case until now with the broadcast on OCS.
However, as reported by our colleagues from Numerama, the HBO catalog has finally found a buyer: Amazon Prime Video. Amazon’s video-on-demand service has indeed announced, in a press release, an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery for the distribution of HBO series through a new offer ” Warner pass “.
Concretely, this pass will include not only the HBO catalog in its entirety, but also the channels of Warner Bros Discovery, namely Eurosport, CNN, TCM, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang and Discovery. Above all, while OCS still had the rights to broadcast the most recent seasons of HBO series, these will no longer be exclusive to Orange channels. Thereby, House of the Dragon will land at the same time as the other HBO series on Amazon Prime Video.
A paid Warner Pass, but not for The Last of Us
On the side of The Last of Us, Amazon specifies that the HBO series will be available on the Prime Video platform the day after the American broadcast, i.e. January 16. The series will not be included in the ” Warner pass “, but accessible to all Amazon Prime subscribers.

Indeed, as the League Pass 1 “, the ” Warner pass from Amazon Prime will require an additional subscription, the price of which is still unknown. For comparison, the Salto, Ligue 1, Paramount+ and MGM passes cost respectively 96, 49, 96 and 48 euros extra per year, in addition to the 70 euros per year of the Amazon Prime subscription. However, the Warner Pass will only be available in the spring with a launch in March. Until then, the HBO catalog will therefore remain an orphan for two months.
