The Last of Us: Game sales explode following the broadcast of the series

When a game adaptation is successful or makes enough noise for the general public to be interested in it, it is the publishers who rub their hands. Just look at the sales of The Witcher 3 following the airing of the first season of the Netflix series (although okay, it primarily adapts the novels rather than this particular game) to realize this. And with all the positive buzz surrounding the TV series The Last of Uswe will not really feign surprise when we learn that the games of Naughty Dog had a similar fate following the airing of the first episode.

A good virtuous circle for Naughty Dog

At the moment, only UK figures are shared with us via Gamesindustry.biz, which reports that sales of The Last of Us Part I and of The Last of Us Remastered literally jumped in the last week.

Nothing surprising in this, but it should be noted all the same that the remake achieved a 238% increase in sales to allow it to re-enter the top 20 best-selling games of the week. It is even more impressive for the remaster which has 322% more sales week over weekto rank 32nd (which is impressive for a game released 9 years ago).

As a reminder, the license The Last of Us has 37 million games sold at last count. There is no doubt that with the success of the series, the symbolic bar of 40 million should quickly be crossed.
