Variety has indeed reported that, although they are both protagonists of the flagship HBO show, Pedro Pascal received $600,000 per episode compared to $70,000 per episode for Bella Ramsey. Internet users have since been outraged by this discrepancy by responding to a viral tweet from ThePopTingz sharing the rumor.
The post has angered many users who, in the comments, speak of “misogyny” and “ageism” – Pedro Pascal being 48 and Bella Ramsey, 19. Others, however, defended Pedro Pascal, arguing that he is a veteran in the field while Bella Ramsey was still in her infancy.
If Pedro Pascal’s salary had been confirmed by a Variety report in 2021 – thus amounting to a total of approximately $5,400,000 for the 9 episodes – that of Bella Ramsey was not known then and it is important to note that it has never been officially confirmed although many sources quote this famous $70,000 per episode. Facing them, Gabriel Luna (the interpreter of Tommy, Joel’s brother) would have received $50,000 per episode and Anna Torv (Tess), $25,000.
NUMBERS BUT NOT SO HIGH
Pedro Pascal’s salary places the actor among the TV millionaires. In the same “category”, we can cite Viola Davis (The First Lady), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) or even Sarah Jessica Parker (And Just Like That…). But there remains before them a long list of actors who surpass them in terms of salary whose per-episode values exceed one million.
In 2022, Marvel’s unforgettable Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. topped the list of TV’s highest-paid actors with $2 million per episode billing for HBO’s The Sympathizer, still in production. that he produces and of which he will be the star.
Going back to The Last Of Us, it wouldn’t be surprising, actually, if Pedro Pascal was paid more than Bella Ramsey due to his long career that began in the ’90s and his previous high-profile roles. However, such a difference would be quite aberrant and ultimately too large…
