The Last of Us: sales explode following the broadcast of the HBO series

Franchise The Last of Us is already 10 years old and more popular than ever thanks to the eponymous series currently broadcast on HBO Max (and on Amazon Prime Video by us). The first episode exploded the counters on the platform of SVoDallowing many spectators who are not players to discover the license of sony and Naughty Dog.

But it also encouraged some to embark on the adventure of video games after watching the beginning of the series. As reported GamesIndustry.biz, The Last of Us Part I sales jumped 238% in the UKraising the PS5 remake to twentieth place among the best-selling games across the Channel. Ditto for The Last of Us: Remastered, on PS4 therefore, which saw its sales climb by 322% after the start of the series HBO, bringing it to 32nd place in bestsellers. Note that these are physical sales only, but it is obvious that the titles of the franchise are also a hit on the Playstation Store and not just in the UK.

This isn’t the first time a series has spotlighted a game, as popular as it was before its adaptation. Following the broadcast of the series The Witcher on netflix, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had risen to the top of sales on Steam and Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels had even been reprinted.

As a reminder, Naughty Dog announced at the end of last year that the saga The Last of Us sold 37 million copiesa figure that will obviously change in the coming weeks… Pending a possible season 2 to sell additional copies of The Last of Us Part II ?

The Last of Us Part I will also arrive on PC on March 3rd.you can pre-order it against €53.99 on Gamesplanet.
