Today is a day of celebration for fans of Naughty Dog’s legendary license! The Last of Us Day is held as every year on September 26, the day on which the Cordyceps infection reached the city of Austin, Texas. The latter is where Joel, Tommy and Sarah lived in the first TLOU game.
For five years, players have been attending this event, which mostly reveals key information about the next games. This time, the community was eagerly awaiting news from the HBO series, and of course, Naughty Dog delighted all its fans with a new trailer!

On the occasion of The Last of Us Day, the Naughty Dog teams have just unveiled images of the highly anticipated series around the adventures of Joel and Ellie. We therefore find there Pedro Pascal (Joel), Bella Ramsey (Ellie) alongside Anna Torv (Tes) who face clickers in a purely stressful scene. We easily recognize key passages from the Naughty Dog video game and the spectators immediately plunge into the ambient anguish of this post-apocalyptic world.
The trailer alternates between moments of calm and totally explosive sequences over the same music. One thing is certain, the HBO series The Last of Us promises its share of action.
Unfortunately, no release date for this time but a year displayed at the end of the trailer: 2023. Despite the fact that the HBO teams recently finished filming the series, they do not seem ready to reveal a precise date for the highly anticipated first episode of this production.
As for the plot…
The story of the HBO series The Last of Us will follow the events of the first installment of the Naughty Dog license, while adding some new passageswhich will add depth to the characters, without changing the overall plot.
We will therefore follow the adventures of Joel and Ellie, in a post-apocalyptic world, destroyed by the arrival of a fungus called Cordyceps. The latter has transformed most of the inhabitants of our dear land into horrible zombies, which our protagonists will have to learn to avoid. As their adventure for survival progresses, they will meet endearing characters, who will become like a new family to them in these horrific times.
This latest trailer from HBO proves how faithful the series will be to the plot of the game, and we can’t wait: (re)discover this story from a whole new angle!
