The Last of Us: Typically HBO! Huge film mistakes discovered in the 6th episode

THE LAST OF US

As fantastic as “The Last of Us” is, the popular HBO series is not completely flawless either. In a scene of the 6th episode a massive film error crept in.

  • “The Last of Us” started on January 16, 2023 on Wow and Sky Atlantic.
  • The series impresses with an emotional story and impressive pictures.
  • But as impressive as the series is, it is not without its flaws: in one scene, a film crew-sized mistake crept in.

Infinite expanses and no one far and wide – except for a courageous film team that doesn’t take it too seriously. So in Episode 6 of “The Last of Us,” Ellie and Joel aren’t as alone as the series would like us to believe. Because a film error has crept in, or rather a whole film crew.

In the sixth episode, Ellie and Joel are supposed to be roaming around the US state of Wyoming looking for Joel’s brother Tommy. But HBO made a small mistake. Twitter user Scott T. Jones spotted it immediately and shared his discovery Twitter.

The film crew behind “The Last of Us” can be seen in an aerial view. They stand comfortably at the side of the road and watch Ellie and Joel as they march across the bridge. It’s not the first time HBO has made such an obvious mistake.

Not the first mistake

HBO has already made one or two mistakes in other series. Film or series errors seem to be the hobbyhorse of the US broadcaster. There were even two obvious mistakes in the hit series “Game of Thrones”.

So you can see a Starbucks coffee mug on one of the tables in the 4th episode of the 8th season. In another scene, a plastic bottle sits on the floor of the dragon pit. There was also a significant error in the “GoT” spin-off “House of the Dragon”.

In the series, King Viserys I Targaryen loses two of his fingers. So for every scene where you saw the king’s hands, they had to be retouched. Actor Paddy Considine wore green finger stalls to make sure this worked without any problems.

But in post-production, the visual effects team slipped through a scene and instead of stubs, you see green socks over Viserys’ fingers. However, after the errors became known, HBO corrected them immediately.

“The Last of Us” will also be revised now. However, this mistake should not detract from the huge success of the series. New episodes of the dystopian series continue to appear every Monday on the streaming service Wow.
