The latest ultra-compact Bosch motor would be featured on 2 new electric bikes from this German brand

Like many other European manufacturers, Winora is also preparing an electric city bike equipped with the central and compact Bosch SX motor, according to a leak from a dealer site.

During the presentation of the Performance Line SX motor, the German brand Bosch seemed quite clear on the targeted bicycle segments: lightweight e-MTBs and gravel electric bikes, which require power while seeking to reduce their weight.

With a much smaller volume than a Performance Line CX, but with a more timid torque (55 vs 85 Nm), the SX goes under 2 kg, enough to also interest more slender city bikes. Kalkhoff with the “L” or the Riese & Müller Culture vintages 2024 had set the example from the Eurobike last June, followed recently by the Vélo de Ville models. Another German brand, Winora, will also give in to temptation.

A Winora iRide Pure folding in 4 versions

The eBike24 site clearly provides a glimpse of the technical data sheets for a future iRide Pure. It’s an urban e-bike, rigid, with a low-damping fork and a suspended saddle, but overall quite high-end. This model bridges the gap between the E-Flitzer fitness with a Mahle rear motor and the classic suspended Sinus equipped with the Bosch Performance Line.

This Winora iRide Pure has a frame in two versions: closed and semi-open, as well as two variations R5f and X10. The base is common with a Bosch SX motor on the crankset, a removable 400 Wh battery, a curved handlebar and a low saddle for a semi-active position. The transmission is a Shimano Cues 10-speed cassette derailleur type on the X10 (hence the name) combined with MT410 brakes, compared to a 5-speed Nexus with belt on the R5f, which relies on Deore brakes.

A high-end and equipped bike

These differences will have an impact on the price, as the site suggests, although we will have to wait for the official presentation to be sure. The Winora iRide Pure X10 is priced at 3,399 euros and the R5f at 3,999 euros, with practical equipment included. Four sizes and only one color per frame type are possible (sometimes with painted fenders!), but we’ll have to wait to verify that information. We also can’t wait to know the weight, an important issue on this type of electric bike!
