The Japanese studio Falcom is definitely very active at the moment with its license The Legend of Heroes. The franchise will also extend beyond video games with an anime: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Northern War. Here’s what to expect.
A war only mentioned in the games
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Northern War is a collaboration between Falcom and the animation studio Tatsunoko Production. The anime will tell us about the events of the “Northern War”, a war started by the Empire of Erebonia and which will lead to the annexation of “North Ambria” by it.
To situate yourself in relation to the games, the plot will take place between The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III. This conflict is also evoked in the latter by different characters in order to present the protagonist, Rean Schwarzer, as a war hero.
What’s interesting about this anime adaptation is thatit will place itself on the side of the “North Ambria” with new characters. From what we know, we should see some well-known faces from the series Trails of Cold Steel, but they will not be at the center of the story and will mainly have an antagonistic role here. The trailer also shows us a few seconds with Valimar, Rean’s divine armor. However, in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Northern Warit is a heroine who will be on the front of the stage:
“Lavi is a girl born and raised in the northern state of Ambria, the poorest region in northwest Zemuria. To protect her hometown and prove that she is different from her grandfather Vlad, who was once hailed as a hero but betrayed North Ambria, she volunteers to serve in the famous Northern Jaegers, the largest corps of jaeger from the continent. Rabi is grouped into a platoon with Marty, Iseria, and Talion and is ordered to undertake an infiltration mission into the Erebonia Empire.
