The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Metroid Prime, Mario and Luigi: what to remember from the Nintendo Direct

Nintendo Directs sometimes deliver surprising surprises! And we can say that no one saw this one coming. Because the license The Legend of Zelda is back on Switch in a game that smells like a remake of Link’s Awakeningbut which still tells a completely new adventure: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. And if this novelty wasn’t enough, it’s not the usual hero – Link, for the two who don’t follow, basically – that the player will embody, but Princess Zelda. She does not have Link’s swordsmanship skills and it is only thanks to magic that she will find her way.

Indeed, Zelda has an artifact capable of copying and replicating all the elements of the world in which she evolves: we then speak of echoes, which give their name to this new opus. So she can replicate a table to climb on it and overcome obstacles. But Peach’s photocopier can also copy enemies who will then fight in Zelda’s place. Just as was the case in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomit’s a safe bet that players will find particularly inventive solutions to solve the puzzles or come up against powerful enemies. The Adventures of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is scheduled for September 26 and a special version of the Switch Lite (a Swicth lite Edition Hyrule) will be marketed for the occasion.

Another heroine finally shows up

Another license loved by players (even if a little less known), the saga Metroid was remembered fondly by players thanks to a trailer lasting a few seconds. The world was therefore able to reassure itself by seeing that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was not abandoned and that the project was still relevant. For the moment, we don’t know much about the game except that this opus will resume the FPS view of the arc Metroid Prime with the scanners or the TPS view when Samus Aran is in a ball. On the plot side, our space bounty hunter will have a hard time facing an enemy who seems to have been able to tame the metroids, these particularly devious alien jellyfish. Finally, we know that the game is planned for 2025, without further details.

Mario and Luigi in a cooperative game, but also in a competitive title!

The first trailer of the Nintendo Direct highlighted the two plumber brothers, Mario and Luigi, in a title that plays the cooperation card to the fullest. Mario & Luigi, the brotherly epic will be released on November 7, 2024 and is presented as a mix of platform game and RPG in which our two heroes must help each other to overcome obstacles or thrash enemies using special techniques, to be performed as a duo.

We will also find our aficionados overalls in a new Mario Party titled Mario Party Jamboree with everything that makes these titles so special: the mini-games (110, we are promised), the complicated game boards, the rigged dice draws and the risk of being stolen a star that was holding out our branches to the favor of a monstrous stroke of luck from the competitors. And since the more, the merrier (which is not always true in a Mario Party), a Koopathlon mode bringing together 20 players online has appeared.

Do you want some remakes?

True to tradition, Nintendo’s announcements have been rich in remakes and remasters, or adaptations. Among these, we will cite Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, which will delight fans of the great Nintendo ape and his sidekicks. Another title that the youngest will be able to discover in a prettier way, Dragon Quest 3 but also (surprise!) Dragon Quest 1 And Dragon Quest 2, a trio which constitutes the Elric Trilogy, which fans will undoubtedly have noticed. Fans of tatanes and the MCU (Marvel’s Cinematic Universe) will perhaps be titillated by the compilation MARVEL vs. CAPCOM® Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics which brings together Vs fighting games, but also this good old beat’em Up The Punisher, source of infinite nostalgia for yours truly. Finally, Switch owners will finally be able to try their hand at Stray and take on the role of this naughty cat who, let us remember, has been rewarded with numerous awards, including that of best French video game at the Pegasus 2023.

The little pearl that makes you want

We will quickly move on to the licensed games (Fairy Tale 2 Or Hello Kitty Island Adventures) to dwell on Mio: Memories in Orbit.

Because if no news of Hollow Kight: Silksong has appeared, this 2D platform title, very nicely animated and with graphics as shimmering as they are attractive, will undoubtedly help fans to wait, even if we will have to wait until 2025 to try it.
