One of the actors of Rebel Moon has revealed the planned duration for the two director’s cuts of Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s Star Wars-style diptych. The rest of the cast was speechless.
Director Zack Snyder likes to take the time to tell his story. Famous for Army of the dead, 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel or Justice League (and its extended version), he recently took control of Rebel Moona science fiction epic in two parts which clearly wants to tread on the flowerbeds of a certain Star Wars. The two films aim to be the starting point of a saga like that of George Lucas.
The first images of Rebel Moon at the start of 2022 are rather encouraging, and the desire to know more is amplified by the August 2023 trailer. From what we can see, Snyder has obtained the means to put his vision in images and promises an epic fresco. Broadcast on Netflix, the two parts of the film must necessarily be aimed at as many people as possible. That is why Rebel Moon is rated PG-13 on the streaming platform, to the great dismay of some who would have liked the director not to have to restrain his desires. Don’t worry, he thought about it.
Rebel Moon Actor Reveals Length of Future Extended Versions, Shocks Cast
The director confided thathe plans a director’s cut of his two new films. They will be classified Rwhich means that Americans under 17 will not be able to see them, unless accompanied by an adult. This is the opportunity to extend their duration by adding scenes filmed but not used in the final cut. How much exactly? Actor Ray Fisher, who plays Darrian Bloodaxe, spills the beans during a conference: “[les films] will be much longer. […] There’s still an hour of film, so imagine another 30% of time where we can really discover who these characters are, their stories and their culture.”

The other actors present were obviously unaware and were almost speechless. “Wait, one more hour?”, “is that true?” ask Michiel Huisman and E. Duffy respectively. “Yes, an hour more, per game I think,” replies Fisher. Concretely, the extended versions of Rebel Moon will last around 3 hours compared to 2 hours for the “normal” ones.
It’s hard to understand the reactions of the cast. The Justice League director’s cut lasts 4 hoursand what about the long versions of Lord of the Rings released between 2001 and 2003 (the “shortest” lasts 3h48). Given the scale of the project, we would tend to say thatwith 4 hours in total, Rebel Moon may be a little short. Verdict on December 22, 2023 then April 19, 2024.
