How the pricing table works

If LG relies on webOS, Philips opts for AndroidTV, a little more complete and greedy. In addition, Philips persists with its Ambilight system aimed at pushing immersion a little further. Despite their different approaches, the LG 48C1 and Philips 48OLED806 TVs share many similarities.

The Ambilight still has its little effect.

The Ambilight still has its little effect.

On the quality side, as one might expect, our two belligerents distill very similar performances. Nothing unusual for these televisions equipped with the same 48-inch panel from LG Display. To be precise, we note that the LG TV imposes itself by little thanks to its slightly more precise calibration. An imperceptible difference that does not allow you to make your choice.

Same observation for HDR rendering, where the performance is once again very close with, again, a slight advantage in favor of the South Korean model. The latter wins by being a little better calibrated, and wins with a higher peak of brightness.

On the video game side, the advantage remains in favor of the C1, arguing a lower display delay (10 ms against 15 ms for the Philips). If our opponents of the day are perfectly suited to the latest Sony and Microsoft consoles, with their HDMI 2.1 inputs (4K 120 Hz, VRR, ALLM, eARC compatible, etc.), LG is staying one step ahead by offering a specific game mode allowing you to ideally adjust the screen for video game use.

If you’re not planning to install a dedicated soundbar or home theater system, the LG C1 should be the right choice. Indeed, it stands out very clearly against its opponent, thanks to its formula based on two speakers and two subwoofers offering a power of 40 W. A recipe that LG has been using for several years and which is paying off.

In this duel of Oled televisions under 50 inches, the LG 48C1 seems to be the best choice, in particular thanks to its audio quality perfectly in line with the image of the Oled panel. However, the victory is not absolute against a Philips 48OLED806 which fiercely defends its territory with its backlit remote control, its Ambilight system, which fans will no longer be able to do without, or even with AndroidTV, which is more complete.
