The most famous gangster is going to be the subject of a musical. Soberly titled “Al Capone”, the show carried by the tenor Roberto Alagna, in the skin of the famous bandit, will be unveiled in world premiere at the Folies bergère next January, for 90 exceptional performances.
Inspired by the life of this particularly feared underworld leader during the Prohibition period in the United States in the 1920s, the show is by Jean-Félix Lalanne, who created the libretto, lyrics and music. Produced by Jean-Marc Dumontet, the show has already revealed its cast.

Tenor Roberto Alagna will take on the costume of this historical figure of organized crime nicknamed Scarface (the scarred one) who died in 1947. He will play the role of singer Anggun, who will take her first steps in a musical show in the role of Lili, “ the poisonous mistress of Al Capone” as she explained on Instagram. He will be confronted with the Quebecer Bruno Pelletier (Notre-Dame de Paris) in the costume of the integrated inspector Eliot Ness, camped on the screen by Kevin Cosner in the cult film by Brian de Palma, “The incorruptibles”, released in 1987 The show will flirt with jazz, pop and lyrical music, according to its performers.
For the record, Al Capone made his fortune selling alcohol in 1919, becoming Chicago’s most feared godfather, especially for his violent methods. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 1931, not for his crimes but for tax evasion. Imprisoned in Alcatraz, he will finally be released in 1939, due to health problems, and will end his days in Miami. The box office for this musical will open on March 31.
