According to the mayor of Pau, Emmanuel Macron’s sentence was therefore rather to be taken in a joking tone. “All presidents, I imagine, say to themselves that any time limit on their mandate is indeed not the best possible idea, but that’s how it is and it’s very good that in political societies, we set terms of this order”, slice François Bayrou. “I think Emmanuel Macron has integrated from day one that it was 10 years and not a day more, except to be re-elected for another election.”
However, according to the president of the MoDem, Emmanuel Macron will not leave politics at the end of his mandate, in 2027. “I do not believe that this young man will leave the political scene like that to go do business.” Without suggesting that the current president wants to try to run for a new term in 2032, François Bayrou considers that “the day he leaves power”, Emmanuel Macron “will remain a French and European democratic leader”, he concludes at the microphone of the Grand Appointment.
