The spring season of the VOX founders’ show “Die Höhle der Löwen” (also via RTL+). In addition to well-known faces, two new investors will negotiate the best deals, entrepreneur Janna Ensthaler (38) and Tillman Schulz. Who is the new lion?

At the age of 33, Tillman Schulz is the youngest lion to date in the start-up show. He was born into an entrepreneurial family in 1989. “Even when I was little, I was drawn to be near the headquarters of our family business, where I soaked up information and discovered how exciting numbers, data and facts can be,” says the new TV lion on his website. “My favorite toy was the calculator on my father’s desk.”

In 2012 he completed his training as a bank clerk, joined the medium-sized family business in the third generation and founded his own company two years later. In 2020 he became managing director of the entire MDS Holding GmbH & Co. KG group of companies, which is active in the food business, among other things.

He brings that with him as a lion

Schulz can offer expertise in the fields of food, non-food, health & sport nutrition. “As the managing partner of an international family business, I know that it is not easy to assert oneself in the market,” he is quoted as saying by VOX. In an increasingly global world, competition can sometimes be very merciless. “Therefore, I would like to share my experience and knowledge and support the founders to the best of my ability on the way to fulfilling their dreams and goals.” He is extremely excited “for innovations and challenges and I’m really looking forward to getting to know great founders”.

In September 2021 he got in touch with the production company of “Die Höhle der Löwen” and is now a permanent part of the jury, the entrepreneur explained in March 2023 in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper. “I definitely want to stay with us for the next few years. I love this job. The great products and ideas of the founders. That’s fantastic.” His company sells food items in all temperature ranges from deep-frozen to ultra-fresh, as well as healthcare products and non-food products in international trade. “That’s a huge advantage for me compared to the other lions. Especially in relation to the complex logistics routes.”

Family man and young Dortmunder

With all my enthusiasm for the business, “I’m also a family man and a direct, honest young man from Dortmund, with a real love for the region and BVB,” says the married father of two children on his website. In an interview with “Bild” he said of his family life: “It’s a tried and true statement, but it’s just true: I can only be so strong as an entrepreneur because my wife has my back.” His family means everything to him and he spends every free minute with them. “As a dad, I join in every fun.”

In the “Bild” interview, Schulz also revealed that he has a sports star in his family: ex-BVB player Lars Ricken (46). “My sister Franziska is married to Lars, they have three children. We are one unit. Lars and I are like brothers, our wives are just as close. Our children go to the same daycare center.” Families spend a lot of time together and often go on vacation together.
