Based on research carried out since the start of 2023, the French favor the house (2 searches out of 3) with a minimum surface area of 80m2, or 3 rooms on average. For those who prefer apartments, the desired size is 56 m2.
Revealing the French’s preferred property purchase criteria seemed even more important to us this year, because 2023 will remain the year of change from a sellers’ market to a buyers’ market, explains Caroline Evans de Gants, general director of SeLoger, echoing the rise in credit rates in particular. But what makes the difference in the eyes of potential buyers is the presence or absence of an outdoor space. Filters garden (16.3%), terrace (14.8%) and even swimming pool (9%) come back first. A requirement that is not always easy to fulfill, particularly in large cities where searches are most numerous by users of the SeLoger platform. Paris, particularly the 15th, 16th and 17th arrondissements, thus occupies the head of the ranking of the most searched cities ahead of Marseille, Nice, Lyon and Toulouse.
