The Little Girl in the Snow (Netflix): the series for Who Killed Sara fans?

In recent years, Spanish series have been popular. After The Ladies of the Telephone, Elite, Money Heist, The Innocentor, Alta Mar a brand new Iberian production appeared on Netflix on Friday 27 January. Entitled The Little Girl in the Snowthis thriller, by David Ulloa, Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés, should undoubtedly convince fans of the series Who killed Sara?, both seasons of which are also available on the streaming platform. And for good reason, the six episodes of 45 minutes each keep you spellbound throughout thanks to a well-crafted plot.

In effect, The Little Girl in the Snow traces a investigation full of twists after the sudden disappearance of a 5-year-old girl named Amaya, during the parade of the Three Kings in Magala, in 2010. As the years go by, without the trace of the girl being found, the police end up abandoning the search. Parents do not lose hope. As Miren, a journalist who is conducting the investigation in parallel and who does not intend to let go of the case. If she wants at all costs to help this family find their child, the young woman, played by Milena Smit, must also face her own suffering.

Is the detective series based on a true story?

Although many viewers have wonderedThe Little Girl in the Snow is not based on a true story. The detective series is an adaptation of the novel La chica de nievewritten by Spanish author Javier Castillo. For the Netflix production, the plot has nevertheless been slightly modified. Indeed, in the book, the action takes place in New York, in 1998, while the little girl is kidnapped during the Thanksgiving parade. Published in 2014, the book was a great success during the confinement. It has since sold 1.7 million copies, to the point of attracting the attention of Netflix, but is still not available in France. The novel should be published by Albin Michel on March 15.
