Little Lord: That’s the point

The film “The Little Lord” tells the story of Cedric Errol. His father passed away, leaving the boy to live alone in New York City with his mother and midwife Mary. When a British lawyer visits the family on behalf of the Earl of Dorincourt, Cedric’s grandfather, he makes the family an extraordinary offer.

Since Cedric is the Earl’s sole heir, he is to move to England with his mother in order to be prepared for his future duties there. Cedric’s mother agrees on one condition, that the old curmudgeon doesn’t tell her son how much he dislikes her. Cedric manages to win his grumpy grandfather over and soften his heart.

The film is based on the 1886 novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The successful book has been adapted into several films, but director Jack Gold’s 1980 British TV adaptation has become a classic, shown every Christmas.

“The Little Lord”: Star Wars and Star Trek Stars in the Cast

Sir Patrick Stewart is known to many viewers as Captain Jean-Luc Picard from the science fiction series “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century”, “Star Trek: Picard” and the role of Charles Xavier from the X-Men film series. In the Christmas classic “The Little Lord” he plays the stable master Wilkins, who teaches Cedric how to ride a horse.

The Earl of Dorincourt, played by British actor Alec Guinness, embodied the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episodes IV to VI. You can find out what else you need to know about “The Little Lord” in our overview.

Streaming providers such as Amazon Prime Video, iTunes and Google Play make the film available for purchase and rental. Amazon’s Prime Video, Disney+ and Netflix do not currently offer the feature film to their subscribers.
