Parallel to Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are working on a feature film: “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the RohirrimIt’s an anime set in the same universe as Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
To underline this, Miranda Otto has now been brought back as Eowyn. Since “The War of the Rohirrim” takes place around 183 years before “The Lord of the Rings”, but still in the Third Age and not in the Second Age like the Amazon series, she serves as the narrator of the story.
In addition to Miranda Otto, other stars in dubbing roles have also been announced: Brian Cox (“Succession”) speaks the protagonist Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan. Luke Pasqualino and Gaia Weiss (“Vikings”) can also be heard in other roles in the English-language original.
A German theatrical release has not yet been confirmed. The Lord of the Rings: The War of thr Rohirrim will be released in Japan on December 15, 2023 and in the US a few months later on April 12, 2024.
