The Lord of the Rings: Gollum arrives September 1

Unveiled in 2019 by Nacon and Daedalic Entertainment, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will finally be released on September 1, 2022. The stealth-adventure narrative game will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. A Nintendo Switch version will be released later this year.

Based on the trilogy of Lord of the Rings, the game will focus, as its name suggests, on the character of Gollum. More precisely on the adventures of the latter during what corresponds to the first chapters of the Fellowship of the Ring. The story takes place after he loses his “Precious” ring in his encounter with Bilbo Baggins. Determined to leave the Misty Mountains, Gollum sets off on a perilous expedition that will lead him to the dungeons of Barad-Dûr. To survive during this journey, he will have to use all his cunning but also use discretion.

Throughout the adventure, you will have, in addition to following Gollum, to deal with his alter-ego, Sméagol. It’s up to you to choose which of the two will take over when the important decisions come.

Finally, for the purists of the background who would worry about having only Gollum as a character known from the books, rest assured. His path will cross that of other familiar faces. And anyway, it’s not like Legolas is everywhere.
