The Lord of the Rings: Return to the Shire? Elijah Wood doesn’t rule out seeing Frodo again

• Warner Bros. has already confirmed that new “The Lord of the Rings” movies are coming.
• Should Frodo play a role in it, actor Elijah Wood would be perfectly willing to return to Middle-earth.
• Nevertheless, a reunion with the well-known Hobbit is unlikely.

The story of The Lord of the Rings was fully told in Peter Jackson’s acclaimed trilogy of feature films, and with it the story of Frodo Baggins. The hobbit who set off with the One Ring and numerous companions to save the Shire and then enjoyed his well-deserved retirement in Valinor is sure to have had enough of adventures too.

If Elijah Wood has his way, there might still be a Frodo reunion. Extra, during the Yellowjackets season 2 premiere, addressed Wood about returning to Middle-earth should the Lord of the Rings films get a reboot. Wood then said:

Reboot…I’m not sure, but if there are more movies that Frodo could be in, I’d be there.

So will we see Frodo back on the big screen soon? Probably not. Although Warner Bros. is actually planning new Middle-earth films, but as already written: Frodo’s story is actually told. Theoretically we could see him again in Valinor, flashbacks are also possible, but Wood would probably be too old for that.

Wood probably already knows this, but it cannot be ruled out that Warner may want actors from the old films for the new projects in order to link the series more clearly. By this logic, Wood and Ian Holm returned as Frodo and Bilbo in the first and last The Hobbit film.
