The Rings of Power Season 2: When does the “Lord of the Rings” series continue?

An official start date for the new episodes of the “Lord of the Rings” series has not yet been set, but showrunner Patrick McKay expects to be busy with production for several more years, which suggests a release at the end of 2024 at the earliest. With a bit of bad luck, the new episodes could not appear until 2025.

The Lord of the Rings: Is there a trailer for “The Rings of Power” Season 2?

Unfortunately, there is currently no official trailer for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2. If anything changes at this point, you will of course find out immediately here. Since filming has already been completed, the first unofficial images have already been shared on social media.

In one picture you can see the set that was transformed from the hell of the Netflix series “Sandman” into the remains of Moria. In another picture, Isildur is seen with a previously unknown character at his side.

The Rings of Power: This is known about the plot!

Of course, Amazon is still keeping a little secret about the plot of the second season. However, it has been confirmed that the elf Círdan will appear in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2. The role is of course already known to Tolkien fans.

Otherwise, some conclusions can of course be drawn from the season finale of “The Rings of Power” Season 1. So we see Sauron’s arrival in Mordor and Nori and the wizard’s journey to Rhun. Gandalf is probably actually hiding behind the wizard, but his identity has not yet been officially confirmed.

In addition, the titular rings of power will continue to move into the center of the series. Up to now they have hardly appeared at all, but now the time has come: three of the 20 rings of power are forged, ushering in Sauron’s rise in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2! We may already see Sauron in a new form.

Halbrand actor also suggests that the events of season 2 will culminate in the “Battle of the Last Alliance”. The downfall of Númenor is at least initiated by the creation of the power-hungry Pharazon.

In addition, the Balrog from Khazad-dum will certainly cause trouble and we will see Theo, Bronwyn and Arondir again.

The Lord of the Rings: Production of “The Rings of Power”

While the first season was filmed in New Zealand, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 relocates to the United Kingdom (Surrey and Berkshire), with some scenes shot again in Auckland, New Zealand. Some footage was also shot on the Canary Islands.

Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” includes eight episodes directed exclusively by women. Charlotte Brändstrom, who worked on season 1, will direct four episodes, while Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hopper will each direct two episodes. Brändstrom is also co-executive producer for the second season. Other producers include JD Payne and Patrick McKay, Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill and Gennifer Hutchinson.

Payne and McKay remain as showrunners. As in season 1, the music for season 2 comes from composer Bear McCreary. Despite the screenwriters’ strike, filming of the second season of “The Rings of Power” was completed as planned. On the last 19 stretches, no authors were allowed to continue working on the production.
