The Lord of the Rings: this change from the books annoys Tolkien fans

The producer of the series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has responded to the controversy born following the publication of photos showing Galadriel dressed in armor belonging to a rival Elf clan.

A few weeks before its event launch (September 2 on Amazon Prime Video), the Lord of the Rings series is (already) controversial. Many fans of JRR Tolkien’s novels have indeed expressed their displeasure on social networks following the publication of promotional photos showing the Elf Galadriel dressed in armor belonging to the line of Fëanor.

Appeared in The Silmarillion (the reference work exploring all the mythology of Middle-earth over several millennia), Fëanor is an elven prince from the Tatyar clan, and incidentally grandfather of Celebrimbor, the smith of the Rings of Power.

But the Fëanor line is also known by fans of Tolkien’s universe to maintain a deep rivalry with the Lady of Lórien, embodied in the series by Swedish actress Morfydd Clark. For program producer Lindsey Weber, however, this controversy has no reason to be, especially since the wearing of this armor will be justified during one of the episodes of the series.

“To give some context, even if it’s not something that is generally taken into account by Internet users: it’s not really his armor, it was given to him by someone.” From whom did Galadriel receive this armor? Surely, it will not be just any Elf, but someone close to the wearer of the Ring of Power Nenya. And why not Celebrimbor himself, who will be played in the series by British comedian Charles Edwards?

Answers are therefore expected from September 2, on the occasion of the broadcast of the first three episodes of the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video platform.
