Adrien Brody recently revealed that he turned down a role in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’. A decision that the American actor immediately regretted when he discovered the classic Peter Jackson.

Adrien Brody almost wandered into Middle-earth! The American actor recently revealed at the microphone of GQ that he had turned down a role in The Fellowship of the Ring, the first part of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

“I didn’t take the offer”, says the one we recently saw in the film The French Dispatch and the Succession series. “I don’t know what my character would have been precisely, but it was a Hobbit. At the time, I was looking for something else.”

Adrien Brody immediately regretted his choice when he discovered Peter Jackson’s classic on the big screen. “I remember seeing the movie in a cinema with an ex-girlfriend”, he says. “She turned to me and said ‘You refused to do Lord of the Rings?!’ I felt so stupid.”

This missed rendezvous with Middle-earth was undoubtedly a blessing in disguise for Brody. Shortly after, the American will indeed get the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Pianist and, icing on the cake, will finally collaborate with Peter Jackson on King Kong. According to his own words, he would probably never have faced the giant gorilla if he had played in The Lord of the Rings.
