The Lost Symbol on Salto: will there be a season 2?

Available for a few days on the Salto platform, will the series “The Lost Symbol”, prequel to “Da Vinci Code” with Ashley Zukerman as Robert Langdon, be entitled to a season 2? Or was the entire Dan Brown novel adapted?

The adventures of Robert Langdon will not have a sequel on Salto. The Lost Symbol, adapted from the novel The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, was canceled last January by the American platform Peacock, which broadcasts the series across the Atlantic.

Available since last Friday on Salto, The Lost Symbol focuses on the youth of Langdon, the emblematic hero of novelist Dan Brown, and is therefore a prequel to Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Inferno in which comedian Ashley Zukerman, seen in the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, succeeds Tom Hanks in the role of the brilliant professor of symbolism.

Throughout the 10 episodes that make up the series’ first and only season, Robert Langdon, then a Harvard professor, must solve a series of deadly puzzles to find his missing mentor. A quest that could end up revealing a frightening conspiracy involving the Freemasons.

Variety reports that, according to a source close to Peacock, The Lost Symbol is coming to an end after just one season for the good and simple reason that the platform and the production believe that this Dan Brown adaptation tells the story of the novel in its entirety and that a sequel is therefore not necessary.

“We’re proud to bring this action-packed, mystery-packed thriller to our subscribers, and to see this captivating series unfold in a fully and satisfying way.”said Peacock in a press release relayed by Variety.

Developed by writers and producers Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie (The Crossing, Outer Banks), The Lost Symbol is led on the casting side by Ashley Zukerman, Valorie Curry (Following), Sumalee Montano (10 Cloverfield Lane), Rick Gonzalez (Arrow), Eddie Izzard (Ocean’s 13), and Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds).

It remains to be seen whether the latest novel in the Robert Langdon saga by Dan Brown, entitled Origin and released in 2017, will one day have the honors of an adaptation to the cinema or in the form of a series.
