Apple unveiled a new MacBook Air during WWDC 2023, similar to the previous model we tested last year… except for one detail.

WWDC is a conference organized by Apple for developers, but the brand never refrains from presenting a few devices, and this is the case today with this latest MacBook Air.

A new 15.6-inch screen, a first for the MacBook Air

Fine connoisseurs of the brand will have noticed that the MacBook Air 2023 does not deviate from the design rules inaugurated with the previous MacBook Air M2. The laptop retains its thinness, with a thickness of 11.5 mm for a weight of 1.5 kg on the scale. The lines are identical, as well as the connectors with the presence of a MagSafe connector for charging and 2 USB-C ports.

The real novelty of this MacBook Air is obviously its screen size. Apple finally responds to the demands of its loyal customers by offering a model with a 15.6-inch screen, a first for this product line inaugurated in 2008. The LED panel has a brightness of 500 cd/m2. The MacBook Air does not offer an option for a mini LED display, which this year remains a privilege reserved for MacBook Pros.

The FaceTime camera has a 1080p definition, and Apple has integrated six speakers for the audio part, coupled with three “studio-quality” microphones for video calls and videoconferences.

18-hour battery life thanks to the M2 chip

Let’s move on to the technical sheet and, like the design, the MacBook Air M2 2023 is above all a variation of the previous model than a brand new brand new computer.

The device is equipped with an Apple M2 processor, the same configuration as the previous year. No doubt the performance should be there, according to our review of the MacBook Air M2 last year, with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. Apple boasts twice the performance of similar 15-inch PCs with an Intel Core i7 processor. It also includes a Wi-Fi 6 chip for faster speeds on compatible boxes.

Regarding autonomy, and as usual, Apple does not reveal the capacity of the integrated battery, but announces a lifespan of 18 hours for versatile use with web browsing. The 15-inch MacBook Air should last a full day before requiring a charge.

The 15-inch MacBook Air will be available starting June 13 with a starting price of $1,299. XX GB and XX GB versions are also offered at much higher prices. Pre-orders start this Monday, June 5th.
