“The Mandalorian” will be with us for at least a fourth season on Disney +. Jon Favreau is already writing the screenplays for the popular “Star Wars” series.
- The Mandalorian season 3 doesn’t start until February 2023 on Disney+.
- The future of the series is already secured as Jon Favreau is currently working on the scripts for Season 4.
- Also an appearance of Din Djarin and Grogu in “Ahsoka” is likely.
The Mandalorian is one of Disney+’s most popular original productions. Even the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett was only really embraced by Star Wars fans when Din Djarin and Grogu turned up and transformed the series into The Mandalorian season 2.5.
In this way, the audience at least got a little Mando action in 2022, because season 3 does not await us until February 2023. A long wait, which can probably be explained by the fact that Disney + the upcoming “Star Wars” series as possible cleverly distributed over the years.
So patience is now required, but at least we know that the story of Din and Grogu will continue after season 3. During the Star Wars Celebration, Jon Favreau revealed he’s already working on the Season 4 scripts.
We’re lucky with TV that we don’t have to rush anything within an hour and a half or two. We can tell stories slowly. And now that Dave [Filoni] “Ahsoka”, he influences me in writing for [“The Mandalorian”] Season 4 very much. It becomes – how should I put it – more precise.

With this statement, Favreau not only confirmed Season 4, he also seems to indicate that the stories will partially overlap with those of “Ahsoka”. Ahsoka Tano has already appeared in The Mandalorian Season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett, now it’s likely that we’ll be seeing Mando again in Ahsoka and Ahsoka in The Mandalorian Season 4.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is currently running on Disney+, followed by “Star Wars: Andor” in August. A second season of “The Bad Batch” will follow in autumn and at a still unknown date the animated anthology series “Tales Of The Jedi” will start in 2022. After that, “The Mandalorian” season 3 should be the next “Star Wars” series in the streaming service’s novelty program.
