The Mandalorian season 3: the return to grace of this actor from the prelogy in episode 4 that you surely did not recognize!

Episode 4 of season 3 of “The Mandalorian” saw the interpreter of the most hated character of the Star Wars prelogy appear in a new role!

Please note, the following details the plot of the fourth episode of season 3 of The Mandalorian, available on Disney+. If you haven’t seen it yet, and don’t want to know anything about its content, then you are strongly recommended to stop reading this article now.

More than twenty years after the release of The Phantom Menace, a key actor from the Star Wars prelogy has made a remarkable return to the famous saga! During the fourth episode of season 3 of The Mandalorian series, a flashback allows us to learn how Grogu escaped the Jedi Purge thanks, in particular, to the intervention of a Jedi named Kelleran Beq.

Many fans surely did not recognize the actor who lends him his features, and yet Ahmed Best is not a newcomer to the Star Wars galaxy since the latter played one of the most famous protagonists of the prequel trilogy. signed George Lucas: Jar Jar Binks. A character hated by hardcore fans of the saga, because of his goofy and clumsy personality!

“Gratitude! It’s good to be back. There’s a lot to say and share. It will probably take me a few days. But for now, I want to thank everyone who supports me and made me progress.”

Due to the reception given to Jar Jar Bink at the release of Episode 1, George Lucas decided to put the character out of the other two parts of the prelogy. We do know, however, that the Gungan survived the events of Revenge of the Sith (since he attends Padmé’s funeral), and an official Star Wars novel (Counterattack: Fall of the EmpirePocket editions) revealed that the latter had ended his days as a street clown (!).

A fan theory claims that Jar Jar is actually a Sith allied with Palpatine, and that his blunders are a trick to avoid drawing attention to him and slowing down the heroes’ advance. Of course, this theory has never been confirmed by George Lucas, although Ahmed Best had fun with it via social networks.

What if Jar Jar Binks was the real villain of the Star Wars prelogy?

Note that this episode of The Mandalorian does not mark the very first appearance of Kelleran Beq in the Star Wars universe, since the latter was already present in the television show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge (following the journey of young participants in a Jedi training camp).

However, there is a notable difference: the Jedi appeared in the show armed with a purple lightsaber (in homage to Mace Windu), while the blade of his saber is green in the Star Wars series!

Episodes of The Mandalorian season 3 are broadcast every Wednesday exclusively on the Disney+ platform!
