The Mandalorian: Season 4 already confirmed? Jon Favreau talks crossovers in the ‘Star Wars’ future

THE MANDALORIAN

“The Mandalorian” season 3 will start soon on Disney +, but a 4th season already seems certain. Showrunner Jon Favreau talks about the future of “Star Wars” and planned crossovers.

  • Mando and Grogu will soon be jetting back into the Disney+ program.
  • “The Mandalorian” season 3 takes us to Mandalore, expect guest appearances from old friends.
  • Showrunner Jon Favreau is already working on Season 4 and hinting at further links to the upcoming “Star Wars” series.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian begins March 1, 2023 on Disney+. This ends a long wait, as season 2 was released in 2020 – although of course we saw Mando and Grogu again in “The Book of Boba Fett” at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022.

Season 4 of “The Mandalorian” could also be a long time coming, and not just because lead actor Pedro Pascal will soon be busy filming Season 2 of “The Last of Us”. First of all, the good news is: Season 4 already seems to be a sure thing!

Shworunner Jon Favreau revealed to French magazine BFMTV Inside after all, that he already wrote the scripts for season 4 during the post-production of “The Mandalorian” season 3.

Season 4? Yes, I have already written them. We need to know where we’re going to tell a fully fleshed out story. So we had a plan, Dave [Filoni] and me. And then you slowly write each episode. So I wrote it during post-production because it needs to feel like a sequel and a full story.

Even though Disney hasn’t officially confirmed season 4 of “The Mandaorian” yet, more behind-the-scenes episodes seem to be firmly planned. In the interview, Favreau also spoke of the other “Star Wars” series and their connection to each other.

And then do [Dave Filoni] “Ahsoka,” which I’m co-producing with him, but he’s the writer and showrunner on that series. You have to understand what happens in the other series or even in “Skeleton Crew” since they are all set in the same “Star Wars” period. So there’s a lot more things we need to be aware of and things that we’ve built on from previous seasons of The Mandalorian as well.

Jon Favreau

We already know from The Book of Boba Fett that the current “Star Wars” series, if set at the same time, are connected and fans should watch each of these series to get the full story.

So the events of “The Mandalorian” season 3 will probably be relevant for “Ahsoka”, “Ahsoka” influences “Skeleton Crew” and we could always expect further crossovers, which is why Mando and Grogu may not completely disappear after season 3, until season 4 launches on Disney+ one day.
