The Mandalorian: That’s why Bo-Katan doesn’t want to lead the Mandalorians again in Season 3

THE MANDALORIAN

Bo-Katan once ruled Mandalore, but in Season 3 of The Mandalorian, she doesn’t seem to want to rule the Mandalorians anymore. Actress Katee Sackhoff reveals why that is.

  • Mandalore is still destroyed and uninhabited, but that will certainly change in season 3 of “The Mandalorian”.
  • This raises the question of who will lead the Mandalorians in the future.
  • Bo-Katan once held this position, but now their plans are different.

Who will lead the Mandalorians on Mandalore going forward? This question is still irrelevant at the beginning of the 3rd season of “The Mandalorian”, the surface of the planet is still in rubble and ash, but inevitably the home of the Mandalorians will be inhabited by them again in the near future.

In season 2 it looked very much like Bo-Katan Kryze would want to be the ruler of the Mandalorians again, but for that she needed the darksaber and in the season 2 finale the sword passed to Mando, who had neither the sword itself nor the sword is interested in domination.

Now, in Season 3, we see a changed Bo-Katan who has shed her previous ambitions. Aimless and alone, she resigned herself to her fate until she had to save Mando on Mandalore and found Castle Kryze destroyed by stormtroopers upon her return. Now Bo-Katan had to join Mando and Grogu and hide at the Watch, where Mando – and Bo-Katan – are welcomed by the bath in the Immortal Springs of Mandalore.

But what’s next? Will they all return to Mandalore together and will Bo-Katan lead the Watch? Actress Katee Sackoff answers this question with a resounding no.

I really think she’s hoping now that someone else will take on that role. She doesn’t want the responsibility. The responsibility cost her everything. Leading didn’t work, so maybe adapting will work.

So Mandalore is not the most important topic for Bo-Katan at the moment. Instead, she’s surprised by the ease with which she’s been received by Watch supporters. “It’s new for her to be instantly accepted by people. Maybe she’s trying to figure out if that’s a place she might want to stay or not,” Sackhoff says.

But who will then lead the Mandalorians on Mandalore? “The Mandalorian” season 3 does not give us a clear answer here. Possibly Bo-Katan will take on this task after all, because Mando can actually be ruled out directly as a leader. After all, as the main character, it would be unthinkable for him to spend the entire 4th season of the Disney+ series on Mandalore.
