The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: a trailer for the final season of the Prime Video series

One of Amazon Prime Video’s flagship programs is about to retire: The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in VO) unveiled the trailer for its fifth and final season on Monday.

A final in apotheosis?

This is one of the longest and most popular series on Amazon Prime Video: The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel will end through a fifth and final season of 9 episodes. Beyond its great longevity, the series, which has won 20 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes, is also one of Amazon’s most acclaimed.

As a reminder, The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel tells the story of Midge, a New York stay-at-home mom in the late 1950s who decides to give up everything to get into stand-up and become an actress. But her caustic humor and success won’t please everyone, and she has to contend with the sexism and backward mores of the time.

While the fourth season ended by showing Midge facing the impressive hall of Carnegie Hall, this season 5 will see her getting ever closer to the success she has always dreamed of… only to discover that he is not so easy to reach.

Written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and Daniel Palladino, the series will see the return of Rachel Brosnahan in the lead role, as well as actors Milo Ventimiglia (This is Us) and Kelly Bishop (Gilmore Girls).

The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel is one of the very beautiful series of the Prime Video streaming platform. The artistic direction, the costumes and the sets are neat, but the series delights above all with its fine blend of drama and comedy, and its corrosive portrait of America in the 1950s… never very far from our time.

Season 5 of The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel will be broadcast from April 14 on Amazon Prime Video (first three episodes), then at a rate of one episode per week until the grand finale on May 26.
