Two masks fell in the semifinals of "The Masked Singer". For an ex-ESC candidate and a TV presenter, the show is over.

Six costumes fought for a place in the grand finale of "The Masked Singer" on Tuesday evening. But only four of them were actually able to preserve their anonymity. Was the advice team made up of Ruth Moschner (44), Rea Garvey (47) and actress Katrin Bauerfeind (38) correct this time with their tips? In the end, the three made big eyes either way.

The flamingo sings its way into the finale, the bull goes away empty-handed

The sequence of the semifinals: In the first three-way battle, flamingo, bull and monstronaut competed against each other. After the flamingo had performed "You Give Love A Bad Name" with plenty of power, the guessing team had a number of names floating around in their heads: Ross Antony (46), Thomas Hermanns (58), Álvaro Soler (30), Nino de Angelo ( 57) or is it Bill Kaulitz (31)? The answer will only be available next week. With its strong performance, the Flamingo secured one of the two direct tickets for the final.

The bull ("Can't Help Falling in Love") and the monstronaut ("Bad Boys" / "Bad Boys For Life"), however, had to tremble. Among the pink plush monster, the guessing team suspected either Joko Winterscheidt (42), Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht (30), Thore Schölermann (36) or Amiaz Habtu (43). For the bull, meanwhile, they guessed Bela B (58), Matthias Steiner (38), Florian Silbereisen (39) or Guildo Horn (58). The certainty followed immediately: When the bull had to drop the mask at the end of the three-way fight, Guildo Horn grinned at the three advisers and the TV audience – ESC seventh-placed from 1998.

The dinosaur is convinced, the trembling game continues

In the second three-way battle of the evening, dinosaurs, turtles and leopards met. All three did their best. The dinosaur performed a soulful "All By Myself", whereupon the guessing team could only think of Rolando Villazón (49) or Sasha (49) as possible interpreters. Here, too, it will be exciting: the true identity of the dinosaur will not be resolved until next week – it is in the final just like the flamingo.

Things got tight for the turtle ("La Vie On Rose" / "I Was Made for Lovin 'You") and the leopard ("White Flag"). What the advice team was able to agree on: A man with a mature voice has to hide behind the turtle, either Roland Kaiser (68), Thomas Anders (58) or Axel Prahl (60). And the leopard also impressed with its professional voice. Is it Ute Lemper (57), Namika (29) or Cassandra Steen (41)?

The bull gets company from …

A final three-way battle should shed some light. The Wackler, Monstronaut, Tortoise and Leopard were allowed to perform again with a new song at the end of the evening in order to convince the TV viewers of themselves. After the monstronaut brought "Schools Out" / "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" to the stage, the guessing team brought a new name into play with Wayne Carpendale (43). And the "Afterglow" performance of the turtle also called a new tip on the scene: Marian Gold (66). The guessing team added Leona Lewis (35) to the list of names for the leopard following his "Russian Roulette" appearance.

But should the three be right? A secret was revealed shortly afterwards. Since the turtle and leopard prevailed in the last three-way battle of the evening, the monstronaut had to give up his safe camouflage for the past few weeks. Lo and behold: Moschner, Garvey and Bauerfeind landed a direct hit. Presenter Thore Schölermann emerged from under the pink plush monster.
