Moderator Katrin Müller-Hohenstein was exposed on "The Masked Singer". In an interview, she explains how important fitness is for the show.

Sports presenter Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (55) was under the piggy costume in the TV show "The Masked Singer" (ProSieben). After her exposure, she reveals in an interview with spot on news, among other things, why she is doing "very well" despite the departure, how she is physically fit and whether she already has any suspicions about one of her masked colleagues.

How are you now? Are you disappointed that you got stuck?

Katrin Müller-Hohenstein: No, I'm just a little tired. Otherwise I'm fine.

Why did you take part in the show?

Müller-Hohenstein: I was very happy about the request for the show and although I can't sing, I feel it is a kind of accolade. Above all, I am grateful because it is very fortunate to be able to let off steam on many different stages in life – also in a figurative sense. It was just great.

How did you experience the security precautions for secrecy surrounding the show?

Müller-Hohenstein: I've never seen anything like it. It was really like a spy movie. James Bond couldn't have done better. It was so perfect from start to finish that I'm sure nothing will leak out from here.

Is there a certain precaution that you would not have thought of before?

Müller-Hohenstein: Yes. For example, you can't show the tiniest bit of skin when you're walking around without a costume. That is, the moment I left my wardrobe, I was wearing a black jogging suit, a hat, and shoes with socks that were tucked into my pants. The hair was hidden under the cap. I had a mask on and the hood of the hoodie was still pulled over the cap. Finally, I hid my eyes behind oversized ski goggles and put on gloves. There was really nothing left to see of me. The only thing that could still be guessed was the figure, nothing else. That was really cool.

How heavy are the costumes and how hot is it underneath?

Müller-Hohenstein: It was incredibly hot under my costume. When I took it off after the show, everything underneath was soaking wet. In my pig costume, the raincoat was the heaviest. The head wasn't that heavy for that. However, the umbrella made it very tall and I had to be careful not to tip it over.

Was there another special challenge? For example, you can no longer go to the toilet in a costume, as your predecessors already said …

Müller-Hohenstein: Exactly, but you can be prepared for that. For me, the real challenge was the moment when I put my head on and realized that I couldn't scratch my nose now (laughs).

How did you like the piggy costume in general? Do you like pigs?

Müller-Hohenstein: I really liked the costume. I generally like all animals. I even like cockroaches, although I actually don't like them.

It is always said that a certain level of physical fitness is an advantage on this show. Would you confirm that and how do you keep fit?

Müller-Hohenstein: I've never been as fit as these days because I've been outside with my dog a lot since the pandemic. And yes, I also believe that being physically fit is really very helpful on this show. If you're struggling physically, it's no fun. Fortunately, it was easy for me.

What was different about the show than expected? What is your advice to future participants?

Müller-Hohenstein: My tip would actually be: get in good shape, because you need to be patient!

You are probably guessing behind the scenes who is among the other costumes. Do you already have a guess?

Müller-Hohenstein: Yes, that's a lot of fun. I'm already relatively sure about the movements of one of them. But I will by no means reveal who I suspect is under the costume. Otherwise I'll spoil the game.
