The Masked Singer: Veronica Ferres reveals details about life as an "agent"

Veronica Ferres was the bee in "The Masked Singer". After the long secrecy, she is finally allowed to talk about life as an "agent".

Veronica Ferres (55) was the bee in the TV show "The Masked Singer" (ProSieben). Although she was the first to be exposed on Tuesday, the actress celebrated her participation as a complete success. Why does she explain in an interview with the news agency spot on news. She also reveals other exciting details about the ideas that the production has come up with for masquerade secrecy on the one hand and the corona hygiene concept on the other. She also reveals when she received the loving Instagram message from her husband (since 2014), Carsten Maschmeyer (61, "Die Höhle der Löwen") after leaving the show.

How did you come to participate in "The Masked Singer"?

Veronica Ferres: I received the request a few months ago. I was very happy because I think it's the coolest entertainment show there is. That's why I accepted immediately.

How secret is it with the request?

Ferres: Very secret. Right from the start (laughs).

How hard was it to keep that a secret? Who knew about it?

Ferres: I kept it up from the start. Only my husband and my agent knew.

Her husband, Carsten Maschmeyer, posted a sweet statement on Instagram after her exposure: "I love my bee! And I am so proud of you." – When did you discover this?

Ferres: I went to the next live broadcast immediately after the show yesterday. Then there were photo shoots and one television interview after another. As a result, I slept for three hours and 15 minutes tonight. This morning it went live on breakfast TV and in other recordings. And now there are still interviews pending all day today … I saw my husband's post when it was about two in the morning. Then we made a phone call. I was overwhelmed by all the positive responses.

How did you experience the safety precautions around the show?

Ferres: I felt like an agent on a very special mission. Every step is thought out. Incredible! Even when you go from the cloakroom in the studio to the toilet, you have to mask yourself completely as a masked singer. This is really meticulous, otherwise the whole show won't work either. That's the fun of it. If you happen to meet another masked singer, you also have to wonder: Who could that be? Who is going like that?

Who do you have a guess with?

Ferres: I think that Roberto Blanco or Fabian Hambüchen are the frog and I suspect that Sarah Connor or Sarah Lombardi are the skeleton.

What did you think when you heard names like Angela Merkel, Désirée Nick etc. on the advice team?

Ferres: I thought: Great! You are an actress and you have accomplished your mission. I really wanted to make sure that nobody recognized me. That I pretend that my voice is not recognized. And I succeeded.

What role did Corona play behind the scenes?

Ferres: It's a great team behind the scenes. With regard to Corona, too, everything was incredibly professionally prepared and thought out. Such a large entertainment show is currently only possible with a perfect hygiene concept. Of course we all stuck to it. We were even more protected by our costumes. My black suit wasn't just tights, it was almost like a diving suit. You're wrapped up so thickly and so far away from any skin contact, which of course was helpful again. We weren't even allowed to touch any doorknobs. And it was constantly being disinfected.

How was it at home when both spouses are in TV shows and you have to pay more attention to it?

Ferres: Because I'm also involved in other projects, I've already done a lot of tests. Toi toi toi were all negative. And of course I don't go to festivals, parties, events – especially not when I'm in a production. I am aware of my responsibility there. And of course my husband too.

What is your conclusion after the show?

Ferres: It was a real adventure. This show is made with so much fun and passion that it will certainly remain unforgettable for me.
