Concerned about the quality of the morning coffee, we wondered which of the Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3000 B or the Melitta Purista was the best bean-to-cup coffee maker under €300. A Purista victory contested by her duelist of the day.

How the pricing table works
Much more accessible than before, automatic coffee makers with grinders are now available for less than €300, in order to satisfy the taste buds of coffee lovers without breaking the bank. In this price segment, we pitted the Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3000 B against the Melitta Purista to find out which is the best.
In terms of ease of use, the Delonghi Magnifica takes the lead thanks to its larger tanks, but also its steam nozzle, absent from Melitta, as well as the ease and possibilities of adjusting the fineness of the grain.
Coffee lovers in a hurry will appreciate the speed of making the Melitta, which requires only 1 m 2 s to make the first “black” after starting, compared to 1 m 36 s for the Delonghi. Same story when it comes to the second coffee since the Melitta is always faster, displaying 38 s on the counter against 42 s for its German opponent.
A decisive criterion for many users, the power consumption also plays in favor of the Melitta Purista. If the Delonghi Magnifica is illustrated with zero consumption in standby, it is on the other hand a little more energy-intensive in load than its opponent, which allows the Purista to impose itself once again.
Finally, the Melitta convinces us with a more contained sound level, measured at 66 dB during grinding against 68 dB for the Magnifica. The observation is identical when the coffee flows from the nozzles, diffusing 52 dB against 57 dB.
It is to the sound of coffee flowing that the Melitta wins the victory, although Delonghi remains a formidable opponent with this accessible bean-to-cup coffee maker. More practical to use and with larger tanks, the Delonghi also has many arguments to make.
