The Miele DA 9298 W extractor hood goes on the board

Either we hide it or we expose it. For its DA 9298 W extractor hood, Miele has chosen the second option and involves the user in decorating it. Indeed, the manufacturer has coated it with a surface resembling that of a blackboard.

Extractor hoods can become central elements in the decoration of a kitchen. This is the case for example of the Neff D96IMW1N0 which benefits from colored LEDs to vary the atmospheres. For its DA 9298 W model, Miele prefers to use a recipe already used on the KFN 29283 D refrigerator: a writable and erasable so-called blackboard surface, similar to that of a blackboard. Everyone can therefore pencil a smiley or a copy of the Mona Lisa, write their thoughts for the day, a little word of encouragement for the family or, more prosaically (and more likely), recommendations or a list of tasks to be accomplished or errands to do.

Unlike many wall-mounted extractor hoods, the DA 9298 W does not benefit from peripheral extraction. The stale air is therefore captured only from below the appliance and not from the sides, which necessarily limits the area of action of this 88 cm wide model under which a 60 cm hob will find its place. . If the latter is also from the Miele brand (and compatible with the Con@ctivity house technology), the two pieces of equipment will communicate so that the suction power automatically adapts to the power of the inductors. If this is not the case, the user has three levels for a maximum air flow of 418 m³/h, which is enough for a kitchen of approximately 17 m², according to Falmec’s advice.

The settings are made using a control panel on the front made up of touch-sensitive keys which take up the aesthetic codes of the controls of the manufacturer’s hotplates.

If necessary (sudden craving for grilled sardines in the middle of February or a fried durian and its Maroilles sauce…), an intensive mode is of course available and it will increase the suction power for 5 minutes (915 m³/h) before the DA 9298 W returns to power 3.

According to the data sheet, the DA 9298 W is very discreet since its sound level does not exceed 53 dB(A) at maximum power, which would make it one of the quietest in the sector, ahead of the Falmec Flipper NRS (54 dB(A)) under the same conditions. Of course, in intensive mode, the noise is higher and rises to 70 dB(A).

The Miele DA 9298 W cooker hood will soon be available for €1699.
