UA cyberattack, of as yet unknown magnitude, targeted the Ministry of Justice this Friday, January 28. Verifications are “still in progress”, learned Agence France-Presse from concordant sources. The command of the gendarmerie in cyberspace was seized of the investigation for a suspicion of attack. “There was something, but not of a significant magnitude, it does not target criminal court files,” a source close to the investigation told Agence France-Presse.
“The Ministry of Justice took note of the alert and immediately organized itself to carry out the necessary checks in conjunction with the competent services in this area”, he announced Thursday afternoon. “The checks are still in progress,” said the same source on Friday. “We are checking our system point by point, it takes time. Obviously, we have an obligation of transparency”, especially if there were leaks of personal data for example. In a message sent on Friday morning to the heads of the representative trade unions, the Chancellery specified “that a site known to disseminate data (lockbit) would threaten to publish files belonging to the Ministry of Justice on February 10th”.
The cyberattack was claimed by the Lockbit 2.0 hacker group. “The teams are fully mobilized in conjunction with our usual partners. The first measures were thus quickly taken to preserve our data and carry out the necessary investigations. According to a union source, investigations were being carried out on the “data protected or not” of the ministry which are “likely to be stolen and on a possible impact on the work of the courts”.
