Among the most irritating events of daily life, somewhere between stubbing your little toe and locking yourself out, is a clogged toilet. A situation that no one wants to see happen for obvious reasons. In order to avoid this inconvenience, you must of course be careful not to throw anything into the bowl, a fortiori if the installation is dilapidated or equipped with a sanibroyeur. But among the things that can clog the pipes, there is also toilet paper.
It may seem surprising since this is where it is intended, but toilet paper is often involved in the problem. Indeed, in some cases it may attach to the walls of the pipes and gradually create a plug. This is the reason why it is made of a material that is supposed to disintegrate quickly in water and that it is not advisable to use substitutes.
A question of thickness
But above all, not all toilet paper is created equal. Some brands offer particularly thick fabrics, which they praise for their comfort. But these “triple thickness” models can promote clogging. Some brands also specify that their interest is to use fewer sheets. This does not mean that the more expensive paper is of poor quality, but that it should be used differently. Moreover, the very thin entry-level models can also be difficult to break down.
If you buy this kind of products, best to use it sparingly, soak the sheets of paper for a few moments before flushing or evacuating them several times. If you ever see the water rising, do not activate the flush again to avoid an overflow. Use a plunger or a pump unblocker to solve the problem.
