The MOBA Heroes of Newerth servers are now closed

In April 2009two MOBAs enter beta. Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends then argue the fans of Defense of the Ancients (DotA). Although both titles had their qualities, LoL’s free-to-play model will finally allow him to win the duel, and even to become the most played game in the world.

However, Heroes of Newerth had managed to retain his community to the point of receiving updates for 10 years. The last major update dates from 2019 even if at the time, it was already an update announcing the end of the title. Adding tributes to staff members for their hard work over the years, and bringing one final major rebalancing patch, the update sounded like a goodbye.

End of 2021, frostburnthe studio that took over from the deposed studio S2 Games, announced the closure of the title.

“Heroes of Newerth (HoN) has been in service for a long time. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has been on this journey, who have created special memories with us, who have carried HoN forward, and who have created many unforgettable stories for HoN, while making Heroes of Newerth one of most popular MOBA games in history.”

The official Heroes of Newerth site is still accessible, but there is nothing left except for some fan discussions of the title. As planned last December, the servers were permanently cut on June 20. So long my friend…
